The Terra Colony Project II: Training Ground

Fear of the unknown plagues her, she can't decide, should she start over in Portland? Or stay with the new friends she's made, and risk everything again?

Antonia Silva is a survivor. Having escaped the ruins of post-disaster San Francisco and the brutal husband who trapped her there, she finds refuge aboard a ship bound for Portland. But this is no ordinary voyage. Her rescuers are part of the Terra Colony Project, a daring mission to settle a pristine new world light-years away. They offer her a one-way ticket to a fresh start. Before she can leave Earth behind forever, she must enter The Training Ground.

Here, in a remote corner of Oregon, colonists build a new society from scratch as a dress rehearsal for life on Terra Nova. For Antonia, the challenge isn't just learning to farm, build, and survive—it's learning to trust, heal, and open her heart again.

As she forges new friendships and discovers an inner strength she never knew she possessed, she finds herself drawn to Brian, a quiet geologist with his own hidden scars. Yet, the shadows of the past are long, and the broken Earth they plan to leave behind is more dangerous than ever.

With rover gangs growing bolder and the clock ticking down for an available space on board, Antonia must make a final choice: live in Portland and start a new life there, or stay with the friends she’s grown to love, and face an uncertain future in a new world. Can a community forged in practice survive the reality of an alien frontier? And can a woman who has lost everything dare to build a new life—and a new love—in a new world?

A Big Change

This is the second part of the original “The Dreamers” book. I'm in the process of dividing this very long, three part saga, into three separate novels:

The Dreamers

Antonia dreams of disaster and struggles to understand what she's seen. Then a major off shore quake shakes the city and triggers the San Andreas fault. In the ruin of post quake San Francisco she loses faith that God could care for her. While fleeing her abusive husband Pedro, she experiences an unforeseen miracle.

The Training Ground

Antonia follows the trio of travelers heading to the training ground. Brian, the irritating thorn in her side, becomes a friend. Here, in the Oregon forest, she struggles to make a decision. Should she stay, and risk everything on the gamble that this new planet will be life sustaining for humans or leave her newfound friends and start a new life in Portland?

Terra Shalom

Fly with Antonia and Brian and experience their first year on the incredible new world, so similar and yet so different from Earth. On their way, a report of armed stowaways on the EsCargo, alarms everyone on board the Esperanza. Together the couple face problems adjusting to their new home, Terra Shalom.
